On Friday evening, October 20, Akron held their third annual Trunk-or-Treat night and welcomed over 150 children. The goal of the evening was for the children to get to see their classmates in costume, have fun, be safe, and of course the best part for the kids- get goodies!
Weather permitting, the festivities are held outside and the kids come with their parents, park their car, pop open the trunk or put down the tail gate and the kids walk around the school parking lot getting different treats. Parents are encouraged to dress up as well (a lot do!) and even decorate the cars.
Unfortunately this year the weather was wet and the activities were held in the school gym, where the parents stayed stationed at chairs and the kiddos rotated to each parent for their treats.
There was also a costume contest this year. The categories were Best Homemade Costume, Cutest, Sports, and Most Halloween Spirit. Two teachers and the local fireman were the judges.
The fire company came and brought their new engine. They handed out treats and information to go along with Akron's Fire Prevention Week, which was Oct. 5-9th.
Cookies and hot chocolate were provided by the PTO for the trunk and treaters as well for all those in attendance.
