The Art Room is Aglow with Colors of the Season!

   If you thought you were seeing a bright light emanating from Mrs. Epler's art room on a recent day, you were probably catching some of the radiance given off by the punched metal lanterns that her fourth grade classes made.
   The students were asked to first draw a winter scene on a specific sized paper. That paper was then placed over a thin sheet of metal. Using small punches, the students then proceeded to transfer their drawn pattern into the metal by pushing their punches through the paper and then directly through the metal.
   After the pattern was complete, the metal was rolled into a cylinder and the ends were attached to each other. It was then time to display all their creations side by side. Mrs. Epler had a table adorned with bare Christmas lights over which the students placed their lanterns. The result was beautiful! Of course, each student then got to take their lantern home to brighten their homes for the holiday.
