Highland's Flat Stanley an Olympian!

   The second grade classes at Highland Elementary School read the book Flat Stanley and created their own Flat Stanleys to send to someone in another community. The activity is designed for students to learn about different communities around the world.
   By the end of February the Flat Stanleys will be sent back to Highland, and there will be displays with all the information explaining about each community that they visited.
   One of Mrs. Long’s students has connections with USA Olympic speed skater Allison Baver from Sinking Spring (Berks County). She took a Flat Stanley with her to Vancouver. The class has been receiving emails from Allison over the last two weeks. Our Flat Stanley met J.R. Celski, a bronze medal winner for speed skating, and had his picture taken with him and his medal. The class is very excited to watch and cheer for Allison as her events begin Saturday.  GO ALLISON!
