The US space agency’s (Nasa) InSight mission has reached a new milestone in its quest to understand the interior of the Red Planet. The probe has spent the weeks since its landing in November positioning a seismometer instrument on the surface. Happy with the set-up, scientists have now instructed InSight to put a protective cover over the equipment. The dome will shield the instrument from wind disturbance and swings in temperature. It will give researchers greater confidence in the accuracy of the readings of seismic signals.

on this day in 1984 Navy Captain Bruce McCandless became the first human being to fly untethered in space when he exited the U.S. space shuttle Challenger and maneuvered freely, using a bulky white rocket pack of his own design. McCandless orbited Earth in tangent with the shuttle at speeds greater than 17,500 miles per hour and flew up to 320 feet away from the Challenger. After an hour and a half testing and flying the jet-powered backpack and admiring Earth, McCandless safely reentered the shuttle

Are you tired of sitting on those hard bleachers at the basketball games?  Tired of “thawing out” after the Spring sports events?  We’ve got the answer—sweatshirt/fleece blankets!

Show your Ephrata support while keeping yourself comfortable. These blankets are warm, soft and cozy.  Use them outside at events or inside to stay warm.

You have a choice of purple or dark gray and they are only $25 each.

With your support, we can host prom at a nice location, with a new DJ and NOT have to increase the cost for prom tickets.

Buy your tickets all this week during all three lunches for Saturday’s Valentine’s Dance!  For $8 in advance and $10 at the door, you can hang out with your friends to a great DJ and snack on some amazing Valentine’s treats.  ALL PROCEEDS go to Four Diamonds to help find a cure for cancer for children.
