Reopening Info: Kindergarten-Grade 4

updated 7.25.20

Online Learning Modified Traditional
All students will be assigned to a District homeroom and a teacher from their home building.

The curriculum will be the same as that being taught in the Modified Traditional Mode and will be at the same pace.

Students will be required to participate at the same time as their classmates in approximately three hours of instructional time scheduled throughout each school day. The classroom teacher will communicate the schedule of online sessions to families on a weekly basis.

Particularly for younger students, significant support will be needed from parents/guardians to assist students with logging on, engaging in online sessions, and completing assignments throughout the school day.

Students will complete additional learning activities at home independently or with parental support for the remaining portion of the school day. These assignments are required and will be used for collecting attendance.

Students may need to pick up supplies from their building for coursework or engage in an alternate activity depending upon the project, course, or assignment.

Students will have daily opportunities to interact via technology with their teacher and classmates who are participating in the Modified Traditional Mode.

Grab-and-Go meals will be available for pick-up one day a week under the regular school-year meal program.

All students will be assigned to a homeroom and a teacher.

The curriculum will be the same as that being taught in the Online Learning Mode and will be at the same pace.

Students will generally follow their regular schedule, five days a week, with some minor adjustments to accommodate efforts to:

  • minimize student movement out of the classroom,
  • increase the ability to achieve social distancing expectations,
  • improve cleanliness of surfaces, and
  • reduce contact with others.

Students will have daily opportunities to interact through technology with their classmates who are participating in the Online Learning Mode.

Recess will be conducted in a way that does not commingle students from multiple classrooms.

Bagged meals will be available under the regular school-year meal program. Lunch will be eaten in either the cafeteria, gym, or other large space, or the classroom, depending upon the grade-level and day of the week.

Parents/guardians will need to select whether their child will ride a District bus or whether parents/guardians will make other transportation arrangements. Please consider the following when making a transportation selection.

  • Face coverings will be worn while boarding and departing the bus.
  • Bus seats will be numbered and assigned for each route.
  • Face coverings will be required for the duration of the bus ride when legally required.
