The Ephrata Area School Board approved the hiring of Mr. Marvin Sanders as the new Director of Athletics, Student Activities, and Facilities at their April 22 meeting.

Mr. Sanders served as the Director of Athletics and Activities at Columbia Borough School District since 2022. Under his leadership, student extracurricular participation saw significant growth, new sports programs were successfully launched, and teams achieved remarkable success, securing league, district, and state qualifications across multiple sports seasons. Mr. Sanders is also credited with pioneering the innovative "My Jersey, Your Impact" initiative at Columbia, which not only elevated the football and basketball programs, but also cultivated a sense of pride, unity, and community spirit among students, athletes, and the wider Columbia community. Previously, Mr. Sanders held the position of Director of Athletics at Lancaster Mennonite School, further adding to his diverse and extensive experience in athletic administration.

"I am deeply passionate about promoting holistic growth for our students through enriching extracurricular experiences. It's with genuine appreciation and enthusiasm that I look forward to the opportunity to foster transformational leadership for the student body and the entire Ephrata Area School District," expressed Mr. Sanders.

“We could not be more excited to welcome Mr. Marvin Sanders to our team. His commitment to providing exemplary programs for student athletes and his experience as a successful athletic director are just two of many reasons why he is going to be a great addition,” commented Dr. Richard Hornberger, Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education.

Mr. Sanders obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Millersville University and his Master of Education Degree in Athletic Administration from Arkansas State University. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Liberty University.

“We value our EASD extra-curricular programming and believe they are a crucial ingredient to develop many of the skills and dispositions needed to be Life Ready Graduates! We are thrilled for the leadership Mr. Sanders will bring, adding to these already successful efforts,” concluded Superintendent Dr. Brian Troop.
