HANDICAPPED ASSISTANCE
In accordance with all Federal and State Regulations, the Ephrata Area School District will provide special accommodations for any person so that he/she can take part in activities offered by the District. Residents desiring such accommodations should contact the District Office at (717) 721-1513 at least 48 hours prior to the event.

SENIOR CITIZEN PASS
All citizens who are 65 years of age or older are eligible for a pass, which will give admittance free of charge to all Ephrata Area School District sponsored events except Commencement, musicals/plays by our dramatic groups, and athletic playoff events. The Senior Citizen Pass is issued at the Athletic Director’s office located in the High School main office.

NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY
The Ephrata Area Board of School Directors declares it to be the policy of this District to provide an equal opportunity for all students to achieve their maximum potential through the programs offered in the schools, regardless of race, color, age, creed, religion, gender, sexual orientation, ancestry, national origin, marital status, pregnancy, or handicap/disability. The District shall provide to all students, without discrimination, course offerings, counseling, assistance, employment, athletics, and extracurricular activities. The equitable distribution of District resources is one means the District shall use to ensure all students receive a quality education. The District shall make reasonable accommodations for identified physical and mental impairments that constitute handicaps and disabilities, consistent with the requirements of federal and state laws and regulations.

The Board encourages students and third parties who have been subject to discrimination to promptly report such incidents to designated employees. The Board directs that complaints of discrimination be investigated promptly, and corrective action be taken when allegations are substantiated. Confidentiality of all parties shall be maintained, consistent with the District legal and investigative obligations. No reprisals or retaliation shall occur as a result of good faith charges of discrimination. In order to maintain a program of nondiscrimination practices that is in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Board designates the Superintendent or designee as the District Compliance Officer.

SECURITY CAMERA NOTICE
Video recording devices are operational at all Ephrata Area School District buildings to better secure the building and adjacent parking areas. The cameras monitor video only. Persons who remain on School District property shall not have an expectation of privacy. The recordings created shall be the property of the Ephrata Area School District, and may be used by the District as it deems appropriate. This notice is posted by the Ephrata Area Board of School Directors.

SCHOOL BOARD POLICY 810.1: TRANSPORTATION - VIDEO / AUDIO MONITORING
VIDEO CAMERAS ON SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION
All school transportation contracted or operated by the Ephrata Area School District may be monitoring student behavior by means of a video camera that will be activated to record video, and maybe expanded to include audio, whenever the bus is in operation. The use of surveillance systems on school transportation is intended to promote safety and to discourage student misconduct while they are being transported.

ASBESTOS MANAGEMENT PLAN
As required by the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA), the Ephrata Area School District has maintained a Management Plan including periodic surveillance as stipulated in the Environmental Protection Agency’s AHERA Regulations, Section 763.84. Re-inspection of District buildings is a regular part of continuing asbestos Management Plan.

A copy of the Management Plan will be furnished within thirty days of receipt of a written request at the cost of reproduction, total cost to be paid in advance. Since the plan is extensive and is continuously growing, but is divided into building-specific sections, please be sure to request only those parts of the Management Plan necessary.
